Who I am
I’m Emma — a documentary wedding photographer with over five years of experience, and a lifelong observer of people, connection, and quiet moments.
My photography journey began far from weddings. I spent six years living in China, working as an English teacher, where I first fell in love with photography through landscapes. Standing still, watching the light change, learning patience — those years shaped how I see the world. Today, that same instinct guides how I photograph weddings: noticing what’s real, fleeting, and meaningful.
I specialise in capturing true moments — only better. The real laughter, the nervous hands, the way someone looks at you when they think no one is watching. I work with natural light, gentle direction, and thoughtful prompts when needed, but for the most part, I take a step back. On a wedding day, I’m very much a fly on the wall — you’ll likely forget I’m there — allowing your day to unfold naturally while I quietly document it.
That said, I’m also very much your wedding bestie. I’ll fix your veil just before the perfect shot, fasten stubborn buttons (yes, I carry a crochet hook), calm nerves, and make sure everything feels effortless. You get the best of both worlds: unobtrusive storytelling and someone fully in your corner.
Outside of weddings, I have a deep love for photographing mums and their babies. So many camera rolls are filled with beautiful moments of dads and little ones — but hardly any of mums. I’m passionate about changing that, creating images where mothers are seen, included, and celebrated. I’m body positive, LGBTQ+ friendly, and committed to photographing people as they are — without judgement, pressure, or forced perfection.
I’m also autism-friendly, shaped by my experience as a mum to a little boy with ASD. I understand that everyone experiences the world differently, and I approach every wedding and session with patience, empathy, and flexibility.
At the heart of everything I do is storytelling. Honest, emotive, beautifully lit storytelling — photographs that feel like memories, not performances. Images that let you relive how it felt, not just how it looked.
